Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new compound useful as an insecticide for paddy field, plowed land, orchard, forest and environmental hygienic treatment, exhibiting especially excellent activity on lepidopterous vermin and having low toxicity.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I A and B are O, S or group of formula II (R is H, alkyl, etc.; R' is H, acyl, etc.); R1 to R4 are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; R5 to R7 are H, halogen, nitro, etc.; R8 to R10 are H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; R11 is H, cyano, etc.; R12 is alkyl; (n) is 0 or 1], e.g. N-(5-methylchroman-6- carbo)-N'-t-butyl-N'-(3,5-dimethylbenzoyl) hydrazine. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a hydrazide compound of formula III with a halogenated benzoyl compound of formula IV (X is halogen) in the presence of a base (e.g. KOH) in a solvent (e.g. hexane) at a temperature between -20°C and the boiling point of the solvent. The agent exhibits excellent herbicidal effect even on vermin resistant to conventional insecticides such as organophosphorus agent, carbamate agent and pyrethroidal agent.
