To produce a new compound which is an inhibitor of metalloproteases having activities against the formation of dissemination and metastasis, ulceration, arteriosclerosis, chronic articular rheumatism, arthrosis and overian cancer.
This new compound is represented by formula I [(m) and (n) are each 0-2; R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, an aryl, etc.; R3 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, an aryl, etc.; R4 is CO-NR6-OR'6 (R6 and R'6 are each H or a 1-6C alkyl), etc.; X is SO2, CO, etc.; R5 is a 1-6C alkyl, an aryl, etc.; A is an aryl ring], e.g. (6R)-5-(4-methoxybenzenesulfonyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-6-(N- hydroxy)carboxamide. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting an acid in the form of a racemic modification or a resolved isomer represented by formula II with an acid or a helogenated derivative represented by the formula R5-X-Hal (Hal is a halogen).
