Title:
NEW MICROORGANISM AND PRODUCTION OF L-ASPARTIC ACID, FUMARIC ACID AND/OR L-MALIC ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3165040
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce fumaric acid and/or L-malic acid over a long period without exchanging microorganisms by treating maleic acid with microbial cells of a specific microorganism, the treated cells or their immobilized product.
SOLUTION: Maleic acid is treated with cells of Pseudomonas alcaligenes XD-1 strain (FERM P-15715),the treated cells or their immobilized product. The maleic acid isomerase of the above microorganism, etc., has long half-life period of the activity and the enzymatic activity is not lowered in a short time. L-aspartic acid can be produced by treating maleic acid and ammonia with the above microorganism (including the treated cells or their immobilized product) and a microorganism capable of producing aspartase (including the treated cells or their immtobilized product).
