Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an oil adsorbent composition for waste oil, drainage, leak oil, spill oil, etc., excellent in long-term preservation stability as compared with a conventional technique by adding a cresol and/or phosphite antioxidant compound as an age resister to a norbornene polymer.
CONSTITUTION: An oil adsorbent composition is formed by adding cresol-based and/or posphite-based antioxidant compounds as an age resister to a norbornene polymer. The norbonene polymer used there is a ring-opening polymer or copolymer of bicyclo(2,2,1)heptene-2 or its derivatives characterized in that it easily adsorbs a lot of solvent and various kinds of oils even at room temperature to form agar-like material and which is the one obtained by polymerization using a specified method. The compound used as an age resister is the cresol- based and/or phosphite-based one and as antioxidant compound, the single compound or a mixture of two or more kinds of the compounds may be added.
