Abstract:

PURPOSE: An optical material excellent in light transmission, free of deformation due to stress relaxation at low temperatures and good in durability, comprising a specified fluorocarbon polymer composed of hard and soft segments.

CONSTITUTION: The titled optical material having ≥30wt% fluorine content comprises a fluorocarbon block copolymer composed of (A) below 70mol% hard segment consisting of a fluorocarbon polymer [e.g., tetrafluoroethylene (co)polymer] which is crystalline and has a melting temperature of about 100W 300°C and (B) below 30mol% soft segment consisting of an amorphous fluorocarbon polymer [e.g., vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoroethylene (co)polymer] and having a fluorine content of above 20wt%.
