Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a base for hair and skin cosmetics, a detergent, a conditioning agent, an emulsifying agent, etc., due to its manifestation of excellent conditioning effects without any irritancy.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphobetaine expressed by formula I [Z is residue obtained by removing (m+n) OH groups from a polyol without any alkyl or alkenyl (except monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, polysaccharides, sugar alcohols and glycerol); formulas II and III are groups bonding to C atoms to which the removed OH groups of Z were bonded; R1 to R3 are H, 1-24C chain alkyl, etc.; M1 and M2 are H or cationic group; (m) is ≥0; (n) is ≥1], e.g. polyglycerol (N,N,N-trimethylammoniopropyl) phosphate. The aforementioned compound is obtained by reacting a phosphoric acid ester expressed by formula TV with an epoxy compound expressed by formula V (X- is anion). The above-mentioned reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of water or a mixed solvent of water and a lower alcohol at 40-90°C.
