Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound useful as a calcium accumulation inhibiting agent, an active oxygen eliminating agent and a lipid peroxide production-inhibiting agent.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula. It has the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, reddish brown crystal; melting point, 170-171°C ; solubility, soluble in methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide, chloroform and ethyl acetate and insoluble in water; high-resolution mass-spectrum, (m/z) 358.1206 (MTH)+ molecular formula C20H20NO3CI. The compound of formula can be produced by culturing a microbial strain of the genus Auxarthron (FERM BP-3378) at 20-30°C for 7 days preferably by aerobic liquid culture.
