Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new antibiotic useful for treatment of infectious diseases by microbes.

CONSTITUTION: An antibiotic of formula I (R1 is H or a group of formula II; R2 is a group of formula II), e.g. pradimicin T1. The properties of the compd.; an external appearance of dark red amorphous; FAB-MS (m/z) is 932(M+H)+; the molecular formula is C42H45NO23; solubility is soluble in DMF, alkali aq. soln., etc., slightly soluble in methanol, etc., and insoluble in benzene, chloroform, etc. The compd. is obtained, after aerobically fermenting an actinomycete strain AA3798 (ATC5528) in a liq. culture medium, by a conventional process such as org. solvent extraction, ion exchange resin treatment, separation chromatography from the fermented bouillon. Although the fermentation is preferably proceeded at pH 6-7, 28-34°C and for 6-12 days.
