Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the compd. free from by-products at high yield by using specified halohydrin as a starting raw material and bringing this to react under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Halohydrin of formula I (X is chlorine or the like) is brought to rearrangement reaction in the presence of alcohol and is subjected to acid treatment to obtain the compd. of the formula II. The 3-oxo functional group of this compd. is selectively protected by the formula HO-(CH2)n-SH or HS-(CH2)n-SH ((n) is 2 or 3) to obtain a compd. of formula II (K is formula IV or the like), and this compd. is treated with trihaloacetic ester of formula Hal3C-CO2R (Hal is chlorine or the like; R is 1-6C alkyl or the like) in the presence of zinc and Lewis acid to obtain a compd. of formula V. This compd. is treated with a compd. of formula VI (Ra and Rb are each H, OH or the like) in a basic medium to obtain the compd. of formula VI, and this is reduced, and the protected 3-oxo functional group is deblocked, which is treated with an epoxidating agent to obtain a compd. of formula VIII. And this compd. is hydrolyzed in an acidic medium to obtain the objective compd. of formula IX.
