Abstract:

To obtain a new serotonin 1 (5-HT1B) receptor protein (a 5HT1B receptor homolog) and a DNA capable of encoding the protein, to provide a method for screening a compound capable of promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein and to provide the compound obtained by the method for screening.

This protein has the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as a specific amino acid sequence derived from a human. The protein is useful as a diagnostic marker, etc., for central nervous system disease, headache, depression or digestive system disease and the compound capable of promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein and available by the method for screening using the protein can be used as a prophylactic or a therapeutic agent for diseases, e.g. the central nervous system disease, headache, depression or digestive system disease.
