PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new heterocyclic ring-condensed pyridine compound having a selective and very high affinity for the melatonin receptors and possessing considerable activity on the central nervous system and, in particular, therapeutic properties on sleeping disorders, anxiolytic, Alzheimer's disease, etc.
SOLUTION: A new pyridine compound (enantiomer, diastereomer, salt) of formula I {R1 to R4 are each H, a halogen, hydroxyl, Ra (Ra is an alkyl, a trialkylsilyl, an alkenyl, an aryl or the like) or ORa; R5 is a group of the formula: A-B-Y [A is a (substituted) 1-6C alkylene; B is a group of formula II (Z is O or S; R6 is H, an alkyl, an aryl or the like) or the like; Y is a (substituted) alkyl, an alkenyl or the like]; X is O, S, NR7 [R7 is H, a (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted) aryl or the like]}. The compounds of formula I is obtained, for example, by a method comprising reacting an amine of formula III with an acid halide of formula IV (Ha1 is a halogen; Y1 is a (substituted) alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkyl or the like], etc., and subsequently reacting the reaction product with a Lawessons reagent.
