Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth metal complex having extremely high luminescence intensity and emitting circularly-polarized light.
SOLUTION: The optically active rare earth metal complex (1) is expressed by general formula (1) (X1 and X2 are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl or a 1-4C alkoxy; Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl; R1 is a 1-8C alkyl, a 1-8C fluorine-substituted alkyl or phenyl; and R2 is (a) cyclopentadienyl group or the like; (b) phenyl group or the like or (c) naphthyl group or the like).
