Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new ruthenium complex useful as an asymmetrically hydrogenating catalyst for producing easily, efficiently and in high optical density an optically active alcohol as an asymmetrically hydrogenated product of keto acid compound, by reaction between a specific glyoxylamide and a ruthenium complex in a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: This new complex is expressed by the formula (X is I or Cl; Ph is phenyl; S is a solvent) and obtained by reaction at 5-60°C between (A) N-t-butylphenylglyoxylamide and (B) [2,2'-bis(dicyclohexylphosphino)-6,6'- dimethyl-1,1'-biphenyl]ruthenium complex in (C) a solvent such as dichloromethane or chloroform at the molar ratio B/A of 1:(1 to 5).
