PURPOSE: To provide a new substituted urea useful as an intermediate for anticoccidium-active compounds capable of being used for the treatment or prevention of coccidium infectious diseases, toxoplasmosis, sarcotistis infectious diseases, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A substituted urea of formula I (R is lower alkyl; R1 to R4 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, and further R3, R4 are alkylthio, fluoroalkyl, fluoroalkoxy, fluoroalkylthio; X,Y are S, O), e.g. N-[4-(6-chlorobenzothiazol-2- yloxy)phenyl]-N'-methylures. The compound can be synthesized by (i) reacting a lover alkyl isocyanate with an amine of formula II, (ii) reacting a lower alkylamine with an isocyanate of formula III, or (iii) reacting an urea compound of formula IV with a compound of formula V (V is Cl, Br) in the presence of a proper base. An anticoccidium active compound of formula VI can be synthesized from the compound.
