Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new transition metal compound useful as a catalyst component for olefin polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: A transition metal compound of formula I [M is a transition metal of the groups IVa, Va and VIa of the Periodic Table; R1 and R2 and each H, halogen, a 1-20C (halogenated)hydrocarbon group, etc.; R3 is a 2-20C alkyl; R4 is a 1-20C alkyl; X1 and X2 are each, H halogen, a 1-20C (halogenated) hydrocarbon group, etc.], e.g. rac-dimethylsilyl-bis{1-(2,7-dimethyl-4- ethylindenyl)}zirconiumdichloride. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of the formula R3-(C6H4)-R4 with a compound of the formula R2CH=C(R1)-(CO)-A (A is a halogen) to afford a compound of formula II, reacting the compound of formula II with n-butyllithium and further a compound of the formula C-Y-C (C is a halogen) to give a compound of formula III and treating the compound of formula III by ordinary method.
