PURPOSE: To continuously print a newspaper having different spaces by a predetermined number by arranging printer units having the same printing plate or different printing plates and selectively changing over the operations of the printer units.

CONSTITUTION: When the city edition is printed, printer units 1a,1b are operated and, in other printer units 1c-1h, plate cylinders 4 are separated from blanket cylinders 3 to stop the printing operations of them. As a result, newspaper spaces for the city edition are formed to both surfaces of the web 2 delivered from a paper feed part A. When the printing of a predetermined number of spaces for the city edition is completed, the printer unit 1b is stopped while the printer unit 1c is operated and a necessary number of copies for the suburb edition No.1 are printed without stopping the running of the web 2. The suburb editions No.2, No.3... are successively and continuously printed by a necessary number of copies. Further, when the units 1a, 1b, 1c are combined, the combined spaces of the city edition and the suburb edition No.1 can be printed.
