To provide a new and useful NF-κB (nuclear factor kappa B) activation inhibitor and to provide a composition useful for prophylaxis or amelioration of diseases or symptoms caused by the NF-κB activation.
The NF-κB activation inhibitor comprises cynaropicrin and/or a derivative thereof as an active ingredient. A composition comprising the NF-κB activation inhibitor is provided. The NF-κB activation inhibitor which is an inventive substance can be applied to preparations of all forms such as cosmetic compositions, quasi-drugs and medicines, etc. Prophylactic and ameliorating effects on various diseases or dysfunction accompanied with inflammations such as cancer, leukemia, AIDS, arteriosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis and further the prophylactic and ameliorating effects on various symptoms accompanied with physiological aging and photo-aging of skin, e.g. pigmentation, wrinkles or slackness can be expected.
