PURPOSE: To form a high potential nickel positive electrode, by filling up a paste of an active material composed mainly of nickel hydroxide and containing metallic cobalt powder and cobalt hydroxide powder, on a sponge type metallic nickel plate.
CONSTITUTION: On a sponge type metallic nickel plate, a paste of an active material composed mainly of nickel hydroxide, containing metallic cobalt powder of 1∼10wt% and cobalt hydroxide powder of 1∼10wt% to the nickel hydroxide is filled up, in order to form a positive electrode for an enclosed type nickel- cadmium storage battery. Therefore, the cobalt hydroxide reacts the contacts between nickel hydroxides forming an eutectic of nickel hydroxide and cobalt hydroxide which is a stable material. Thus, as well as utility rate of the active material is improved broadly, the presence of metallic cobalt exercises multiple effect to improve its utility, and a high potential nickel anode can be acquired.
