Title:
NITRATION METHOD OF CHLOROBENZENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58131943
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain mononitrochlorobenzene with a reduced distribution ratio of the p-isomer and o-isomer useful as an intermediate for dyes, agricultural chemicals and other industrial chemicals, by reacting monochlorobenzene with nitric acid in an equimolar amount or less.

CONSTITUTION: Monochlorobenzene is reacted with nitric acid in an equimolar amount or less based on the monochlorobenzene (preferably 0.2W0.8 molar ratio) at 60W100°C to give monochloronitrobenzene with a reduced distribution ratio of the p-isomer and o-isomer. The concentration of the nitric acid to be used is preferably 95% or higher since nitronium cations in the nitric acid take part in the reaction. The reaction pressure may be ordinary one, but the reaction at ordinary pressure is desirable due to the trouble in consideration of the safety, etc.
