To obtain a new compound excellent in flame retardancy, water resistance and thermal stability, small in decrease of resin properties when the compound is added to a resin, and mainly useful as a flame retardant of the resin.
This new compound is the one of formula I (m is 1 or 2; R1 to R3 are each a 1-10C alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl or the like; R4 to R6 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, an alkenyl or the like), e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by carrying out a dehalogenation hydrogenation reaction of a compound of formula III (X is a halogen), (e.g. diphenyl chlorophosphate) with a compound of formula IV (e.g. benzoguanamine), ordinary by using a dehalogenation hydrogenation catalyst such as triethylamine under an anhydrous condition, preferably at 80-200°C for 2-10 hr. The compound can be added to a bisphenol-A type epoxy resin or the like.
