Title:
NITROGEN OXIDES REMOVING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2002143647
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an NOx removing element capable of efficiently cleaning NOx-containing gases even in waste gas containing excess oxygen without using an expensive toxic reducing agent.

This NOx removing element has an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte membrane 1, a positive electrode 3 and a negative electrode 2 separately disposed on both faces of the membrane 1, takes in NOx in waste gas through the negative electrode 2 and dissociates the NOx into nitrogen and oxygen, which are released. The solid electrolyte membrane 1 is made cylindrical, the palladium-base negative electrode 2 is disposed on the outer surface of the cylindrical solid electrolyte membrane 1, the positive electrode 3 is disposed on the inner surface and an NOx absorbing layer based on Pt-ZrO2- Al2O3 is further disposed on the negative electrode 2.
