Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide N,N'-difluorinated diazacycloalkane derivatives represented by a specific formula which are readily obtainable from starting materials commercially available in substantial quantities and useful in the synthesis of pharmacologically active compounds and for fluorinating agents site-selective towards carbanionic substrates or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The objective derivatives are represented by formula I (wherein (n) is 0, 1 or 2; R1-R5 are each 1-6C alkyl, aryl, 1-6C alkyl substituted aryl or aryl substituted 1-6C alkyl; X- is each a counterion and 2X- is a single divalent counterion) and the adducts thereof is represented by formula II (wherein Y is an easily fluorinatable Lewis acid) and include, e.g. 1-fluoro-4- aza-1-azoniabicyclo[2,2,2]octanetrifluoromonoborane tetrafluoro-borate. Further, it is suitable to e.g. react 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]-octanefluoromonoborane with sodium tetrafluoroborate in HPLC-extra pure acetonitrile at low temperatures.
