PURPOSE: To obtain N,N-disubstd. arylcycloalkylamines having an inhibitory effect on cholesterol biosynthesis and useful for the treatment and prophylaxis of hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis.
CONSTITUTION: The N,N-disubstd. arylcycloalkylamines are compds. of formula I [where (n) is 1 or 2; (m) is 0 or 1; A is a single bond, 1-17C alkylene, 2-17C alkenylene or the like; X is carbonyl or sulfonyl; R1 is 1-5C alkyl; R2 is 1-5C alkyl or the like; R3-R5 are each H or alkyl; R6 is H, 1-6C alkyl or the like; and R7 is H, 3-6C cycloalkyl or the like], e.g. trans-N-(4-chlorobenzenesulfonyl)- N-methyl-4-[4-(2-methoxyethyl)methylaminomethylphenyl]-cyclohexylamine. The compds. of the formula I are obtd. by reacting compds. of formula II with compds. of the formula R2-Y (where Y is a reactive releasable group) optionally in the presence of a base in a solvent such as ethanol at 0-100°C. The compds. of the formula I are also useful for the treatment of exuberant dermatosis, exuberant vascular diseases, tumors, gallstone and mycosis.
