PURPOSE: To perform the same monitoring as that by a half-duplex communication system even by a full-duplex communication system and to prevent a line charge from being paid wastefully by disconnecting a line by utilizing a non- communication monitoring function provided at line connection equipment when a system not providing with a means to disconnect the line is used.
CONSTITUTION: The line connection equipment 11, 13, and 15 are connected to an ISDN 10, and terminal equipment 12, 16 and a host computer 14 are connected to each line connection equipment, and data communication can be performed via the ISDN 10. When the terminal equipment is set in a non- communication state, the line is disconnected by utilizing the non-communication monitoring function provided at the line connection equipment 11, 13, and 15 if the system is not provided with a means to disconnect the line. In other words, the control part of the line connection equipment instructs the disconnection of the line to a line connection control part by notifying the non- communication state from a non-communication monitoring part, and disconnects the line, and also, sets the line connection equipment in a standby state.
