To provide a non-contact IC card reader/writer which improves an electromagnetic shield configuration so as to show specified communication performance by being assembled as it is without readjusting antenna coil characteristics of an RF module purchased from a manufacturer while suppressing unnecessary electromagnetic interference with surrounding metal objects by placing electromagnetic shield materials behind an antenna board as a countermeasure against an EMI.
In the non-contact IC card reader/writer of an assembly configuration in which the antenna board 2 is provided with a main body case 1 and an RF board 3 for signal processing is placed behind it, a sheet electromagnetic shield material 4 equipped with an electromagnetic wave absorption function beyond a gap is layered over a magnetic metal plate member 5 at the back, is placed in opposition behind the antenna board and a gap length L between the antenna board and the shield material is set so that a resonance frequency of the antenna coil is adjusted to a specified proper frequency band.
