To provide a non-contact reader/writer that is hardly affected by a reflection wave from a fluorescent lamp.
The non-contact reader/writer includes: a reception antenna 1; an optical sensor 8; and a coefficient feedback circuit 9 acting like an elimination means for eliminating a signal resulting from multiplying a prescribed coefficient with an electromagnetic wave sensed by the optical sensor 8 from an electromagnetic wave signal received by the reception antenna 1, and uses the coefficient to automatically determine by using the feedback circuit and eliminates a noise signal included in a reflection wave from the fluorescent lamp. Since the non-contact reader/writer includes the optical sensor for receiving the noise signal from the fluorescent lamp and the elimination means for processing information from the optical sensor, and the non-contact reader/writer can to advantage eliminate the signal modulated by emission light of the fluorescent lamp, that is, the noise signal, resulting from a radio wave output from the reader/writer made incident onto the fluorescent lamp.
