PURPOSE: To provide NC data in a smoothly interpolated machining shape, by a method wherein interpolation is effected by calculating an interpolation curve by extracting a plurality of points from data in a non-round shape formed by a point group and a composite curve of a plurality of interpolation curves.
CONSTITUTION: A shape forming processor 21 inputs an ideal form data 20 of a work, i.e. a distance R between a contact point between a rotation coordinate and a machining tool and the center of a work, as a series of point group data. A plurality of points are first extracted by a point group interpolating means 22 to calculate interpolation, and a composite curve of a plurality of interpolation curves obtained by orderly changing an extraction point is then calculated for interpolation, and a shape by a simultaneous 3-axis is formed by means of a shape forming means 23. A prediction control processor 24 prepares data 26 in association with frequency characteristics data 25, and by means of the NC data, a non-round NC grinding machine N is controlled. This method provides NC data in a smoothly interpolated machining shape, and enables execution of machining of a work in a desirable non-round shape, and prevention of the generation of chatter of a tool.
