PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the lamination of a separator or improve the lamination accuracy of the separator, and also improve resistance against external force of the separator for a battery, in a nonaqueous battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and the separator which are laminated therein.SOLUTION: A square or rectangular separator 43 is formed, the separator being cut in a parallel direction and a vertical direction to an MD to have four sides. Heat is applied to sides 61a, 61b in the vertical direction to the MD, and is not applied to sides 62a, 62b in the parallel direction to the MD. As a result, the sides 61a, 61b in the vertical direction to the MD are melted due to heat to block a pore, so that resistance against external force is improved to suppress breakage of the separator. The sides 62a, 62b where heat is not applied have a linear form, and alignment can be performed by using the sides 62a, 62b as a reference, so that the lamination of the separator 43 can be facilitated or the lamination accuracy of the separator 43 can be improved.
