In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery 10 that is provided with a positive electrode 11 having a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode 12 having a negative electrode active material, and the nonaqueous electrolyte having a nonaqueous solvent and electrolyte salt, the positive electrode active material is obtained by mixing a lithium-cobalt compound oxide to which at least both zirconium and magnesium are added, and a lithium-manganese-nickel compound oxide containing at least both manganese and nickel having a laminar structure, and the potential of the positive electrode active material is 4.4 to 4.6 V based on lithium, and H-CMC in which ammonia is desorbed from carboxymethyl cellulose-ammonium (NH4-CMC) is contained as a binder in the negative electrode.
