To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of retarding deterioration in capacity attendant on charging/discharging cycles.
This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is constituted with a positive electrode 5 using a transition metal oxide capable of absorbing/ releasing lithium ions and a negative electrode using carbon, and the positive electrode 5 contains a metal base material 1, transition metal oxide powder 2, and metal powder 13. The transition metal oxide powder 2 is partially fused to the metal base material 1 through the metal 13, and the transition metal oxide particles 2 are fused each other. The negative electrode contains a metal base material 6, carbon powder 7, and metal 9, and the carbon powder 7 is partially fused to the metal base material 6 through the metal 9, and the carbon particles 7 are fused each other through the metal 9.
