In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material containing a silicon-based material, a positive electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, a metallic salt complex represented by the following formula is added, as the electrolyte, into the nonaqueous electrolyte. (In the formula (1), M is a metallic element selected from Li, Na and K, Sol is a solvent molecule selected from dimethyl carbonate, methyl ethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, dimethoxyethane, ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, vinylene carbonate, fluoroethylene carbonate, acetonitrile, and methoxy propionitrile, and x indicates an integer of 1-3).
