Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an alloy having excellent gas absorption characteristics and to permit the holding of vacuum in the atmosphere of high getter temp. by specifying Fe, Ni, La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm.

CONSTITUTION: The nonevaporation-type getter material is formed from the compsn. constituted of, by weight, 5 to 50% Fe and the balance rare earth metals or, in addition to this, of 1 to 15% Ni. The above rare earth metals are selected from La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm and form stable hydride. At the time of forming the alloy of a mixture of the above rare earth metals with Fe or Ni, fine multilayered structure is formed and sufficient gas absorption can be obtd.
