Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a high nonlinear optical effect without having inversion symmetry by using a specific isocyanide compd. which has a high nonlinear optical effect, crystal growability and excellent durability. CONSTITUTION:The isocyanide compd. optical fiber expressed by formula I is used as the nonlinear optical element. In the formula I, R<1> to R<5> may the same or different and denote a hydrogen atom, 1 to 20C aliphat., alicyclic and arom. group and a substituent selected from an acyl group, amino group, cyano group, etc. The isocyanide compd. is generally a pale yellowish crystal, has the good crystal growability and has the high quadratic nonlinear optical effect. This compd. is usable as the nonlinear optical element in the form of a thin film, fiber, molecule inclusion in a host lattice deposited on, for example, a single crystal base. The high nonlinear optical effect which has no inversion symmetry is obtd. in this way.
