Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance transparency, nonlinear optical effect, and also transmittance of light in the blue wavelength region by using a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:The compound to be used is 1-[2'-(1'-methyl)pyrrolyl]-3- phenylpropen-1-one represented by formula I, and it is easily porepared by allowing, for example, 1mol of benzaldehyde and 1mol of 2-acetyl-1- methylpyrrole in the presence of a basic catalyst, such as sodiun or potassium hydroxide, or quaternary ammonium salt, preferably, at a temperature of 0-50 deg. for 1-24hr by using a solvent, preferably, such as methanol or ethanol.
