To inhibit or decelerate stress relaxation after the orientation of a nonlinear optically active component in a nonlinear optical polymer by using a specified nonlinear optically active glycidyl-contg. copolymer.
The nonlinear optically active copolymer is represented by the formula wherein R1-R3 are each H, CH3 or halogen, X1-X3 are each O or NR4, R4 is H or linear or branched 1-6C alkyl, Y1 is a linear or branched 2-20C hydrocarbon chain in which one or plural CH2 groups not adjacent to each other with the exception of a CH2 group bonding to the group Z can be substd. by O, S or NR5, R5 has the same meaning as R4, Y2 is a linear or branched 1-3C hydrocarbon chain, Y3 is linear or branched 1-20C alkyl or the like, Z is a nonlinear optically active group and l:m:n is (1-99):(1-99):(1-99).
