Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a nonlinear vibrator using polypyrrole.
CONSTITUTION: KCl electrolyte is separated by an operation electrode 14 where a polypyrrole diaphragm 14a is formed and a counter electrode 16 and a reference electrode 12 are arranged at one and the other of the electrode 14. The counter electrode 16, the operation electrode 14, and the reference electrode 12 are connected to a potentiostat 10 and the operation electrode 14 is set between the oxidizing potential and the reducing potential of polypyrrole. The oxidizing/reducing reaction of polypyrrole causes concentration gradient in the ion in the electrolyte, and generates fluctuation in the potential of the reference electrode 12 and the operation electrode 14, thus oscillating current flows between the operation electrode 14 and the counter electrode 16.
