Abstract:

PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce a nonoriented silicon steel sheet excellent in machinability by preparing a steel sheet having a composition where respective contents of C, Si, Al, P, Mn, and S are specified and also the ratio of Mn to S is specified.

CONSTITUTION: A nonoriented silicon steel sheet having a composition which consists of, by weight, ≤0.007% C, ≤0.5% Si, ≤0.1% Al, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.3% Mn, and the balance essentially Fe and where Mn content satisfies the relation in 20≤Mn/S≤80 with respect to S content whose mixing amount is controlled to ≤0.01% is prepared. By this method, the nonoriented silicon steel sheet where machinability is improved to a greater extent without deteriorating magnetic properties, blankability, weldability, etc., can be obtained.
