PURPOSE: To obtain the subject soft nonwoven fabric, comprising readily splittable fiber composed of physically and chemically different several kinds of specific polymers as principal constituent elements, satisfying specified conditions and having a smooth surface, high strength and drapeability.
CONSTITUTION: The objective nonwoven fabric is obtained by using fiber of a copolyester composed of (A) a dicarboxylic acid unit, (B) a diol unit, (C) a structural unit expressed by formula I [(x) and (y) denote 0 or 1; Z denotes monovalent group expressed by formula II (R1 denotes 1-18C hydrocarbon; R2 denotes alkylene; n1 denotes the average polymerization degree and is 10-100)], (D) a structural unit expressed by formula III (R3 is same as R2; n2 is same as n1) and (E) a component expressed by formula TV (Ar is trivalent aromatic group; M is metallic atom) and constituting the nonwoven fabric so as to satisfy the formula L×P≥7 [L is the wicking length (mm) after washing 10 times; (p) is the apparent density (g/m3) of the nonwoven fabric]. Furthermore, 1-49wt.% each of the components (C) and (D) and 100wt.% total amount thereof are contained in the copolyester. The component (E) is contained in an amount of 0-10mol% based on the total acid component and the intrinsic viscosity of the copolyester is ≥0.5dl/g.
