Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject nonwoven fabric which is made of polyester fibers containing a specific flame retardant component, mildew-proofing agent and lubricant, thus shows excellent tufting properties, antimildew properties, flame retardancy and high tensile strength and elongation.
CONSTITUTION: Polyester fibers are allowed to contain, by weight, 1,000 to 10,000ppm of phosphorus element as a frame retardant component, 50 to 3,000ppm of silver element as an antimildew component and 500 to 20,000ppm of silicon element as a lubricant to give the objective polyester nonwoven fabric for tufted carpets having both functions of flame retardancy and mildew-proof properties. The fabric is preferably filament nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric causes no generation of noxious gases, when it burns.
