Abstract:

To provide a norbornene-based derivative capable of being used as a monomer for a polymer having an excellent transparency and heat resistance, and capable of expressing a controlled and desired birefringence and wave length dispersion, having both characteristics of an aromatic imide skeleton and an alicyclic type skeleton, easily synthesized and having a relatively high polymerization activity, and a method for producing the same.

This norbornene-based derivative is expressed by general formula (1). The method for producing the norbornene-based derivative is provided by performing the reaction of a conjugated diene which may have a substituent, maleic anhydride and hymic anhydride or their derivatives by Diels Alder reaction, and also performing the reaction of the obtained material with an aromatic amine.
