PURPOSE: To provide a simply constructed, low-cost, easy-to-control voice generator which, even if the ability to speak the language in which a translated sentence is made is insufficient, can voice out the sentence written on a conversation directory.

CONSTITUTION: In a notebook type translated voice generator, in which covers 1, 2 and paper sheets 3 are combined into a notebook style and in which a means for generating voices, a means for identifying the sheet selected, and a switch for selecting the voice to be generated are provided inside a casing constituting the covers 1, 2, so that in accordance with the selecting switch, the sentence which it is desired to voice out is selected from sentences of the same contents in two different languages written on the sheet 3 and is voiced out, a photoswitch 4, etc., is used as the sheet identification means.
