Abstract:

PURPOSE: A novel bacterium belonging to the genus Lactobacillus having an improved rate of preparation of lactic acid in the process of aging of silage of rice straw, having extremely high resistance to lactic acid, capable of preparing high- quality silage.

CONSTITUTION: Lactobacillus.sp T6 (FERM-P 7090) separated from silage of rice straw cut in its green stage at Tsuyama City in Okayama Prefecture. Shape; short bacillus 1.5W3.0μm. Spore: none. Gram dyeing positive. Physiological properties; Lactic acid fermentation: homogeneous type. Nitric acid reduction: negative. Catalase: negative. Proper temperature: 30°C. Lactobacillus sp T6 is cultivated in a natural or synthetic medium containing a proper nitrient source under unaerobic conditions at about 30°C for 24W48hr, and the prepared culture is used as a culture solution, separated mold, washed live mold, lyophilized mold, etc.
