Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A benzodiazepine compound of formulas I and II (R1 is H, acyl, carbamyl, or alkoxycarbonyl; R2 is H or acyl; R3 is H, alkyl, or phenyl lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 5,10,11,11a-Tetrahydro-8-methyl-5,9,11-trihydroxy-1H-pyrrolo- [ 2, 1-c ] [1,4] benzodiazepine-2-acrylamide.
USE: Antitumor agent. Low toxic compared with the conventional benzodiazepine anti-tumor agents.
PROCESS: The compound I or II is prepared by reducing a compound III or IV with a dithionic acid, dithionous acid, etc., in a solvent such as methanol.
