Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 is H, 1-hydroxyethyl, etc.; R2 is H or protecting group; R3 and R4 are H, lower alkyl, protecting group of guanidino group, etc., or mutually linked to represent alkylene chain; R5 is H or protecting group; X is methylene, etc.) and pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof.
EXAMPLE: (5R,6S,8R)-2-(4-Guanidinomethylphenyl)-6-(1-hydroethyl)-penemcarboxylic acid.
USE: An antimicrobial agent or intermediate therefor.
PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II (R6 is lower alkyl, aryl or lower alkoxy) is heated and, as desired, subjected to treatment, such as removal of the protecting groups, to afford the compound expressed by formula I.
