Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain excellent rigidity and impact strength by forming a composite material from a specific ABS layer (SRABS), the specific ABS layer (LRABS) laminated to SRABS in contact therewith and the cellular insulating material layer, wherein the greater part of cells contain a foaming agent, being in contact with LRABS in a laminated state.
CONSTITUTION: A composite material consists of SRABS 1 containing rubber particles with a wt. average particle size of below 1.5 μm, LRABS 2, which contains rubber particles having a wt. average particle size of about 1.6 μm or more and occupied by a sufficient number of rubber particles of 4 μm or more, being in contact with SRABS in a laminated state and a cellular insulating material layer 3 wherein the greater part of cells are filled with a foaming agent being in contact with LRABS in a laminated state. The graft phase and matrix phase of LRABS to be used contain about 15-40 wt.% of a nitrile monomer unit and about 60-85 wt.% of styrene on the basis of the sum total wt. of the nitrile and styrene components in the graft phase and the matrix phase. Herein, the wt.% of the nitrile monomer is calculated as acrylonitrile.
