PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel light-absorbing compound which absorbs near infrared light of a long wavelength region and can be used to realize more efficient application of near infrared light.SOLUTION: Provided is a benzodipyrrole derivative represented by a general formula I.
