PURPOSE: To provide a novel cyclic amine compound having a high glutamic acid-blocking activity and useful as a reagent used in fundamental researches or as a therapeutic for nerve transmission control, cerebral impediment, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (R is alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group which may be substituted; R' is amino acid residue which may be substituted; (l) is 0-2; (m), (p), (q) are 2-4; (n) is 0-2), e.g. 2,4-dioxo-3-(1- naphthylacetylamino)-9-(β-alanyl)-1,5,9-triazacyclododecane. The compound is produced by condensing a cyclic amine compound of formula II with an amino acid of formula: R'-H.
