PURPOSE: An epoxy resin composition suitable as a material for cationic electropaints, prepared by mixing a specified copolymer with an epoxy compound.
CONSTITUTION: There is used a copolymer having repeating units represented by formulaI, wherein R1 and R2 are each H, a 20 C or lower alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, glycidyl or the like, and repeating units represented by formulas II and/or III, whrerin R3 is H, a 20C or lower alkyl, halogen, acetoxy or the like. Namely, 1pt.wt. above compolymer is mixed with about 0.1W50pts.wt. epoxy compound, particle size of about 1W100μ, e.g., a compound represented by formula IV wherein X is H or a halogen and P is 0W30. A cationic electropaint prepared from the above epoxy resin composition is free from yellowing and has good workability.
