The compound of formula I is obtained by inoculating an elastatinal-producing fungus (e.g. an actinomyces MD469-CG8 strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces) on a nutritive source-containing medium and subsequently aerobically culturing the fungus in the medium. The elastatinal B has following physiochemical properties. Molecular formula: C23H38N8O8; Rf value: 0.49 (developing solvent is butanol: acetic acid: water =3:1:1); coloring reaction: positive for 2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazine, Leyden-Smith, FCNP reaction; negative for ninhydrin and Sakaguchi reaction, etc.
