NEW MATERIAL:The fluorine-containing mono- or polyalkylene glycol derivative characterized in that at least one of 2W30C fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon group bonded with ≥3 fluorine atoms is grafted to mono- or polyalkylene group in the main chain of a mono- or polyalkylene glycol derivative of formula I (R1WR3 are H or 1W30C alkyl; A is 1W30C unsaturated hydrocarbon group, polar group or polar group substituted with 1W100C unsaturated hydrocarbon group; B is A or 1W30C hydrocarbon group; x is 0W100; n is integer of 1W1,000) per 1 molecule of the mono- or polyalkylene glycol derivative.
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II.
USE: A raw material for contact lens. It has excellent oxygen permeability, contamination resistance, hydrophilicity and water-swelling property.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula III with a fluorine-substituted unsaturated hydrocarbon and then reacting with a polar group-containing organic compound.
